A Drum Type Flame Arrestor is a specialized safety device designed to prevent the transmission of flames and explosions through vent lines, storage tanks, process vessels, and atmospheric venting systems handling flammable gases and vapors. The drum-shaped housing contains a high-performance flame arresting element that safely extinguishes flame fronts while allowing the free flow of gases during normal operation.
Drum Type Flame Arrestors are widely used in petroleum storage terminals, chemical plants, refineries, pharmaceutical facilities, solvent storage systems, biogas plants, and other industrial applications where protection against fire and explosion hazards is essential. Their robust construction and large flame arresting surface area make them particularly suitable for high-flow venting applications.
Designed in accordance with recognized international standards, Drum Type Flame Arrestors provide reliable protection against external ignition sources and help ensure safe operation of tanks, vessels, and vent systems containing combustible gases and vapors.

Benefits
Drum Type Flame Arrestors provide effective protection against flame propagation while maintaining efficient venting of gases and vapors. Their large flame arresting element offers excellent flow capacity with minimal pressure loss, making them ideal for storage tank and vent system applications. By preventing external flames from entering flammable vapor spaces, these flame arrestors help protect personnel, equipment, and facilities while ensuring compliance with industrial safety regulations.
Working Principle
During normal operation, vapors and gases pass freely through the flame arrestor element and are safely vented to the atmosphere. If an external ignition source or flame reaches the vent opening, the flame enters the flame arresting element where the heat is absorbed and dissipated by the metallic passages. This reduces the flame temperature below the ignition point of the gas mixture, extinguishing the flame and preventing it from reaching the protected tank, vessel, or process system.
