An End of Line Flame Arrestor (Free Vent Type) is a safety device designed to prevent external flames or ignition sources from entering storage tanks, process vessels, and vent systems containing flammable gases or vapors. Installed at the open end of vent pipes, these flame arrestors allow free passage of gases and vapors to the atmosphere while preventing flame propagation into the protected equipment.
The flame arrestor contains a specially engineered flame-quenching element made of crimped and corrugated metal ribbons. If an external flame comes into contact with the vent opening, the flame arresting element absorbs and dissipates the heat, reducing the temperature below the ignition point of the flammable gas mixture and preventing the flame from entering the vessel.
End of Line Free Vent Flame Arrestors are widely used in petroleum storage tanks, chemical plants, solvent storage facilities, pharmaceutical industries, biogas systems, and other applications where flammable vapors are vented directly to the atmosphere.
These flame arrestors provide an essential layer of protection against fire and explosion hazards while maintaining efficient tank breathing and venting operations.

Benefits
End of Line Free Vent Flame Arrestors provide reliable protection against atmospheric ignition sources while allowing safe venting of flammable gases and vapors. Their simple design, low pressure loss, and durable construction make them ideal for protecting storage tanks and process vessels from fire hazards. By preventing flame entry into the system, they help safeguard personnel, equipment, and facilities while ensuring compliance with industrial safety regulations.
Working Principle
During normal operation, vapors and gases flow freely through the flame arrestor to the atmosphere. If an external flame reaches the vent opening, it encounters the flame arresting element. The element absorbs and dissipates the flame's heat through its numerous narrow passages, lowering the temperature below the ignition point of the gas mixture. This extinguishes the flame and prevents it from entering the storage tank or vessel, ensuring safe operation of the system.
